Maren Vox

Filmmaker · Brooklyn, NY

Award-winning director and producer. Creator of 'After Static', winner of the 2025 Tribeca Documentary Prize. Building direct-to-audience film distribution.

Maren Vox grew up in a small town in upstate New York, where her earliest memories involve a borrowed camcorder and hours spent filming anything that moved. After studying documentary filmmaking at NYU, she spent five years working on independent crews before directing her debut short, Sound of Silence, which premiered at SXSW in 2021. The film's intimate portrayal of a deaf musician navigating the New York jazz scene earned critical acclaim and set the tone for her career: deeply human stories told with visual restraint and emotional precision.

Her latest work, After Static, is a 38-minute documentary exploring the tension between digital connection and real-world silence. The film weaves together three parallel stories set across Brooklyn, each anchored by a character struggling with the noise of modern communication. It won the 2025 Tribeca Documentary Prize and has since screened at Rotterdam, Sheffield, and Hot Docs. Maren is now focused on building a direct-to-audience distribution model through ShowRev, offering screenings, behind-the-scenes content, and digital products to her growing community of subscribers.
